C-1 | Sustainable development is able to satisfy today’s needs without endangering the capacity of future generations. It comprises three basic elements that must complement one another: environmental, economic and social sustainability. This course aims for providing a profound understanding problems of managing material life cycle in the circular economy. The most important steps of the journey form product compliance to sustainability will be presented. |

Student will be learn: - Understand the challenges of switching from a fossil source-based economy to a biobased economy; - Understand how to identify suitable raw materials and create valuable new products; - Evaluate technological, ethical, societal and economic consequences in the production of biobased and fossil products; - Understand the concept of a circular economy and understand how a circular economy deviates from the current linear system; -Analyse and develop complex circular systems using a systems thinking approach.
