Wymagania wstępne

KODWymaganie wstępne
W-1Using parameters to define geometry marks a fundamental shift in aesthetic value: from the exact ‘repetition’ of elements in traditional design to a varied but ‘similar’ use of elements in parametric design. Based on the variables, options will be explored (as many as mathematically possible), by automating the process of exploration, similar in principle to the rapid doodles developed during initial conceptual stage. This course uses Rhino & Grasshopper as an aid in design exploration by looking at Facade Design as a complex inter-relationship of intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. Project covers of parametric design oriented to sustainable projects. The Course covers whole process from form finding to fabrication preparation and 3d print of developed models.

Cele przedmiotu

KODCel modułu/przedmiotu
C-1The aim is that students learn architectural design and using digital tools based on NURBS in the design process. This is the start to the digital design thinking, the way in which the digital designer is beginning to think, employing digital tools and interacting with representational media. The subject also aims to develop the learner’s interest, knowledge and skill of contemporary architectural design, including the relationship of contemporary architectural projects and spaces to urbanism and urban settings. Emphasis is placed upon learning advanced design concepts, skills and knowledge related to the making of architectural design proposals. Participants in the subject are beginners in using advanced design tools such as: Rhino and Grasshopper, 3D max or Maya. They were used to making design projects traditionally and preparing the project representation using popular design tools such as: AutoCAD, ArchiCad, Sketchpad and Photoshop or Corel Draw. Therefore students have to learn to understand not only the logic of the advanced software, but also the logic of using these tools in the design process. There is a unique opportunity in Poland for the students to develop their skills to introduce the computer into architectural practice.

T-P-1The design task: The task was to design a public use architectural object in a municipality with an attractive landscape, located close to a large urban area, e.g. the city of Szczecin. It would be a place of leisure for the residents of the city, especially on the days free from work. At the same time, it would meet the needs of the local community. The utility function of the object included a swimming pool with the stands, a Waterpark, catering services with a restaurant and a cafeteria, and other services to ensure the yearround attractiveness and profitability of the object. The design process is focused on usage of digital tools, particularly Rhinoceros with Grasshopper. Course will cover whole process from form finding to fabrication preparation and 3d print of developed models.45
